PAS'UNGKO FESTIVAL

Misamis Occidental celebrates the 81st Provincial Anniversary. The celebration was from November 4-8 2010. This occasion was led by our very own Governor Herminia Ramiro. Last Monday was the most awaited event which is the PAS’UNGKO Festival. Fourteen municipalities and three cities joined the said event all over Misamis Occidental. This activity helps promote the culture and tourism of our province.

We had the chance to witness the PAS’UNGKO Festival because our school will be used by the contingent coming from the different places in Misamis Occidental. The first part was the street dance held along the Street in Oroquieta City. Thanks to god because the weather was good but I can really feel the heat of the sun, shines toward the crowd. We never mind how hot it was, all we want was only to take the dance to watch each presentation. I observed that the participants clid their best in order to showcase the best they can. After a long hours of walk, we finally arrised at the Capitol Ground. We were very tired but we have to search for a place where we can watch the main presentation of the contingents. Before they proceed to the second part, a short program was set, then, the battle begins. While the presentation was going on, I feel weak, it is because of the crowd and the noisy of the place. Despite of these, I was still amazed and overwhelmed of the presentations to each troop. They all performed very well. They have their own interpretation of what PAS’UNGKO is which means thank giving to the Almighty one for the blessings received. But this is a contest.
winners were deserving to bring the beacon. I’m happy with the result because our city, Oroquieta City got third place.

From this event, they proved that Misamis Occidental citizens or the subanen are really talented. That PAS’UNGKO is part of our culture and I am proud to be a Subanen.
